This is my first blog about ancient temple Lankathilaka Rajamaha Viharaya, This is situated at Sri Lanka in Kandy City. When you travel from Colombo to Kandy 10 km before the Kandy City you will find the Pilimathalawa City from there you need to go through Dawulagal Road to Reach this Beautyfull Temple. If you going to visit Sri Lanka don't forget to Visit This Beautiful Temple and the mean time please enjoy my pictures of Lankathilaka Temple.

It is located in the Udunuwara electorate in Senkadagla Township. To visit this Beautiful Ancient Place you need reach the Dawulagala Kandy Road from the Pilimthalawa town, Which is found on the Colombo Kandy Highway. when you Travel about 5 - 6 km from this road you will reach this beautiful destination.

This historic site belongs to the period of the Gampola kingdom and was built by King Buwaneka Bahu IV who ruled the Gampola kingdom. It is the archaeological idea that this temple has been designed in a kovil format, which can be seen by anyone who is closely observing the temple.

Although the temple can be seen in only three story, it is said to consist of seven story. Another remarkable feature is that the roof is entirely made from the bricks and Later for the protection they have add the tile roof.

An Esala Perahera which has continued uninterrupted from the days of the King to the present can be seen in this sacred place. It begins fifteen days after the Dalada Maligawa Perahera concludes, and lasts for 15 days. The grand procession will hit the streets in early September. It also ends with a ritual watering.

I invite you all to visit this beautiful place. Here are a few shots caught on my phone's camera

Think about it,

Do not contaminate your polythene bags, paper towels or plastic bottles with them when you travel. It is our duty and responsibility to protect our future generations in the same way.
